Tutorial #4

Notes of Discussion

For this session, each of us did a short presentation of our project idea. In my presentation, I talked about my concept, key idea, execution method, UX journey, Technicalities and moodboard.

Agreed Actions

Lin Yew's feedback:
I will be facing 2 big challenges - Visuals (after linyew
sees the artstyle that I want to go for, lol) & technical experimentation

Can start experimenting on technical, find alternatives solution
as back up plan.

Class's feedback:
Only Kah mun asked a question on what the flashlight
is made of or is it a real flashlight.. The rest say
overall its quite clear and straightforward.

Notes of Discussion

2 flowcharts to choose from, not quite sure if I want 4 flashlights or 1 flashlight.

The user experience theme: “Night trail” (adventurous, mysterious)

Agreed Actions

Technical: computer vision, location tracking. Research
on Wiimote (pros/cons).
- "potentiometer" for Wii flashlight
Content: Interaction, narration, graphic styles
1 flashlight!

Notes of Discussion

Updates on technical research that I found, 3 ways.

1) Using Wiimote as mouse cursor via bluetooth and use
processing sketch to make flashlight simulation effect
over video as background.

2) Wiimote IR infared signal and wii (IR) sensor bar.

3) Color detection (processing) with a real flashlight.

Problems

1) Multiple flashlights, multiple sensors

2) Start trigger

3) bluetooth stablity

Agreed Actions

Lin Yew's feedback:
Think of the space, level of interaction,as there's only
1 interaction (user use flashlight to navigate).
Balance out the researches with content.
Keep options open, explore other choice of execution.
Think of the sound ambience

Notes of Discussion

1) The concept, Interactive wall installation about nocturnal animals and its issues.

Linyew's feedback: He said the concept is simple
and straight forward, no big problem on the concept.
I can proceed with it.

2) Technical, Wiimote and sensor bar.

Linyew's feedback: Instead of Wiimote, can also
look for more options of technical (execution method).
Keywords of technical research - wii arduino,
location tracking, Infared camera (IR), bluetooth.

Agreed Actions

Content need deeper research and solid.

Visuals are important, based on the target audience think
of the style that I want to go for.

Suggest to change user experience, instead of multiple
flashlight, can try using 1 torchlight with choices on
screen.
